Fellow Red Devon USA Members-

Greetings from the frozen tundra of western Arkansas. I hope you are doing well, keeping warm, and preparing for the time when you are ready for winter again.

As you may know, there are many changes taking place as we begin to formally operate as Red Devon USA. We have initiated the work of combining the former ADCA and NADA registries into the new Red Devon USA registry under a new registrar (Canadian Livestock Registry Corp – www.clrc.ca), which will result in a transition period. Until we go live with CLRC, you are welcome to continue registering cattle as before, and all records will be merged as the data gets transferred to CLRC. If you are a new member and unaware of the process, please contact Sarah Wilkerson @ (229) 516-0394 (moc.l1511265185iamg@1511265185nosre1511265185kliwk1511265185haras1511265185) for instructions.

We’ve had calls from breeders interested in being placed on the new Red Devon USA “Breeder Listing”. The fee is $50/year, and Sarah will also be happy to facilitate this as well. Also, we are building a classified ads section for the website, and have begun to post more information on our reddevonusa.staging.wpengine.com website. Please bookmark the site and visit often, as we intend to make this the “go to” site for Red Devon and grass-fed/grass-finished information.

Many of you have asked how you can assist the organization. Two important things come to mind:

  1. Be an ambassador for Devon cattle in your area. Organize pasture walks, schools, field days, etc. We are currently in the process of developing promotional brochures, leaflets, banners, and displays that will assist you in your efforts. Let us know how we can help you in these efforts, but don’t be afraid to “take the bull by the horns”.

  2. Send interesting information, pictures, or an ingenious farm-related “how to” to place on the website or Devon USA. Roy Doan and Guille Yearwood are always looking for interesting articles, testimonials, stories, or pictures for our website and Devon USA. Roy can be reached at roydoan@hotmail.com and Guille at guilley@aol.com . Let’s do our part to make Red Devon USA an information hub for our industry.

Our 2014 Red Devon USA Event will be held at Brookview Farm in beautiful Lexington, KY on September 25th – 27th. Please mark your calendar now for this historic event!

Finally, while CLRC will ultimately be administering our annual dues collection, we ask that all 2014 dues (January 1st to December 31st) be sent to Red Devon USA at your earliest convenience. Please go to the membership page, print off the form, and send your $50 annual dues fee to: Red Devon USA, 2983 US Highway 84, Dixie, GA 31629

Thanks and Stay Warm!
