Jeremy’s Trip, Part II

While in South Carolina, Jeremy Engh was in contact with Otto McCarty.  Mr. McCarty is using the registered Red Devon bull pictured to the left on his commercial herd of cows (Mr. McCarty sent us both photographs used in this post).  This bull was bought from Kow A Bunga Farm and is the son of a cow that Jeremy and Ottis Wagner selected to be in the National Sale this fall.  Mr. McCarty reports that this bull, “Braveheart”, is the best made Devon bull that he has seen and that he measures 50 inches at the hips at 2.5 years of age. Mr. McCarty has agreed to enter the bull in the National Show this fall at Anderson, SC.

Remember that the dates for the Annual Conference and National Show and Sale are September 18 and 19 at Walker’s Century Farm located near Anderson, SC.  Jeremy Engh is the Show and Sale manager and if you have cattle to enter in the show or sale contact Jeremy at or call 540-718-1139.

Promotional Displays

Red Devon USA is happy to announce the purchase of two new promotional displays.  The new displays are much easier to handle during setup and takedown and are lighter when carrying and shipping.  The Promotional committee made the recommendation to purchase them and Lavonne Hickl was very instrumental in finding the best models for our needs.

DSCF3102If you would like to volunteer to man one of the promotional displays at an event near you please contact Sarah Wilkerson.  Sarah will coordinate the logistics to ship the display to you at the appropriate time along with printed materials to hand out to visitors.  The event will require you to pay a fee to reserve a vendor’s space for the display. Once you have paid the fee send the invoice or receipt to our treasurer, Paul Colucci, so you can be reimbursed.  It is important to find out when the reservation deadline is as soon as possible because some events will have deadlines as long as 2 or 3 months before the event.

Calendar of Events

The calendar of events page is now in use on the website.  Go to the menu bar across the top of the homepage and click on Events Calendar and it will take you the listings already posted.  If there are any events you think should be listed on the calendar please send the information to Roy.
