Fellow Devon Breeders —

I hope this message finds you enjoying milder temperatures and good grazing. We’ve just returned from a wonderfully historic Red Devon USA event held in beautiful western North Carolina, where 140 people came together to celebrate Devon and the merging of the ADCA and NADA.

The weather was fantastic, as was the farm and hospitality of Charlie and Martha Trantham. We have already received numerous compliments regarding the high quality of our varied speakers and wealth of information disseminated, as well as the general “feel” of camaraderie and fellowship that capped this effort.

I am pleased to serve as the first President of Red Devon USA, and look forward to getting busy with the urgent work of a national Red Devon promotional effort. The Board has approved a $25,000 promotional budget for this next year, which will include national print ads, promotional materials, and financial support of various national and regional opportunities to spread our Devon message. Please let us know where we can help you in your local efforts, as we need all Devon breeders to assist in getting the Devon message to the larger cattle community.

I will be working closely with Jeremy Engh, who was elected as Vice President, and well as Ted Stevens, who will continue in the Treasury function. Jeff Moore has agreed to take on the role of Promotions Coordinator, as well as facilitating the transition of both registries to our new service provider – Canadian Livestock Registry Services.

Guille Yearwood has agreed to continue his phenomenal work as editor of our DEVON USA publication, and Andy Wendt will continue building our world-class website.

We will be in touch regarding the upcoming approved changes, which include new animal naming protocol, DNA testing requirements, and import requirements. Please bookmark reddevonusa.staging.wpengine.com and check it frequently as we accelerate our promotional and educational information.

Thanks again for your support, and feel free to contact me if you have any questions or comments.
